New ADAP Standard for Body Shops

Trainers Michel Julien and François Bertrand recently announced the creation of the Alliance Digitale Automobile Professionnelle (ADAP), with the participation of the Corporation des carrossiers professionnels du Québec (CCPQ).

ADAP’s mission is to create a higher standard for electronic diagnostics and ADAS calibrations in auto body and glass shops and to explain to the public and insurers the complexity of new technologies in vehicles in order to enhance the expertise of ADAP members.

“In addition to creating a high standard for pre/post scans, calibrations and electronic diagnostics, ADAP will equip each of its members with an educational video campaign. This video will be used to explain to shop customers, insurers and the public on social media, the complexity behind an auto body repair or auto glass replacement,” said Michel Julien, Trainer and Expert at MJConsultech, at the launch of this standard.

Customized videos

“All ADAP videos will be customized with the shop’s name, banner logos, if applicable, and photos of the facilities. The video allows the shop to project a professional image, confirm their ADAP certification to insurers and the public, and explain the complexities of ADAS calibrations and systems in less than 2.30 minutes, all in easy to understand language. CCPQ member shops that already meet certain training and equipment requirements are invited to join ADAP first. By ordering the customized ADAP video, the Professional Automotive Digital Alliance membership fee is covered until next April. Our members will all receive a renewal offer with our 2023-2024 program,” said François Bertrand, Producer-Director at Avalanche Marketing and partner in this project.

Complexity of repairs

“With the new electronic components, the body shop profession is evolving rapidly and it is time for a change in mentality, as our industry is now much more labour intensive in terms of training, equipment and skills. ADAP’s mission to explain to the public the complexity of safety systems in vehicles will not only facilitate the work of body shops, but also of insurers who will find it easier to justify their premiums to a public that is better informed about these new components that increase the price of vehicles,” said Michel Bourbeau, Executive President of the Corporation des carrossiers professionnels du Québec (CCPQ).
