Sailun’s TOP Line of commercial tires are an attractive option for line-haul work. Value is a key driver for commercial fleets. When it comes to tires, they want something that’s safe, reliable and delivers good performance and fuel economy, all for a reasonable price.
This is particularly important in the long-haul freight segment and it’s something that Sailun Tire is acutely aware of. The brand’s new TOP (Technical Optimization of Performance) Line of commercial tires have been designed to specifically tick all the boxes when it comes to balancing mileage performance with fuel economy and minimum wear.
Industry-leading warranty

Additionally, Sailun has added an industry-leading 8-year warranty on its TOP Line that covers workmanship and materials, plus coverage for up to three additional retreads. “It’s about delivering confidence and added long-term value,” explains Al Eagleson, Segment Manager, Commercial Tires at Sailun Tire Americas.
He notes that Sailun’s new TOP Line of long-haul steer, drive and trailer tires represent an opportunity to further capitalize on the brand’s previous offerings in the commercial space by providing tires with wide tread and low-rolling resistance. A good example is the SDL70-EFT drive tire. “We released this a year ago,” Eagleson explains, “and the mileage performance and low rolling resistance have exceeded our expectations.”
Eagleson notes that the SDL70-EFT has proved such a success, that it’s casing construction, design and rubber compounding have been replicated in designing the SFL70-EFT steer tire for large commercial trucks and STL-70-EFT for trailers. “We feel the combination of these three tires will be a winning one for line haul fleets and owner operators,” says Eagleson.
Liquid-Phase Mixing
A key factor in being able to deliver superior wet traction performance and low rolling resistance, lies in Sailun’s EcoPoint3 tread compound that results from the company’s patented Liquid-Phase Mixing Process. A result of more than 10 years of research and development, Liquid-Phase Mixing is a new way of mixing rubber compounds. It works by introducing a liquid solvent into the mixing process enabling the compound to mix in a liquid state. The solvent is then extracted before the mixing phase is completed, enabling it to be reused. Liquid Phase Mixing enables silica materials to be more finely dispersed than with traditional “dry” mixing. The result is a compound that can be used to improve tire mileage, reduce rolling resistance and improve wet weather traction without compromising any single attribute. “In the tire business, we call that solving the magic triangle,” explains Eagleson.
He notes that where Liquid-Phase Mixing and EcoPoint3 can have the biggest impact and best “bang for the buck,” is currently with line haul applications.
Accredited third-party testing
To illustrate the performance of its line haul tires in comparison with other offerings on the market, Sailun worked with an accredited third-party testing facility to evaluate tires with its EcoPoint3 compound versus those from a leading competitor. The testing was conducted using identical truck/trailer combinations under controlled operating conditions. Eagleson says the results from this testing indicated that Sailun tires with EcoPoint3 technology used 1.4% less fuel than leading competitor tires under test conditions. Additionally, he says that on-going mileage evaluations of the same tires are also delivering impressive results.
Slim bead technology
Other aspects that warrant closer inspection of Sailun’s TOP Line range of commercial tires include slim bead technology. This enables the tire to have a lighter-weight casing by redesigning the bead area, essentially removing rubber material without compromising strength and tire integrity. The result, is a lighter casing, enabling lower rolling resistance—a key factor for many fleet and owner operators. Not only does it enable improved fuel economy but also makes mounting and airing up of the tire easier for shops, saving both time and money.
Additionally, Sailun’s new TOP Line steer and trailer tires offer an updated tread design with a de-coupling rib to minimize irregular tread wear. Eagleson notes that all-three models in the TOP Line, SDL-70-EFT, SFL70-EFT and STL-70-EFT will be offered in 11R22.5, 295/75R22.5 and 11R24.5 sizes, with dealer orders starting in Q4 2025.
