Schaeffler’s aftermarket division made its first appearance under its new identity, Vehicle Lifetime Solutions (VLS), at the latest AAPEX Show.
The recent merger with Vitesco Technologies, finalized on October 1st, now positions the group at the forefront of e-mobility. This alliance offers unique vertical integration and strengthens its range of solutions for electric powertrain systems, incorporating batteries, energy management processes, inverters, control units and axles.
Sustainability remains at the core of the German giant’s strategy, which is also exploring solid-state batteries by transferring its production expertise and leveraging investments in stamping for module and block manufacturing. A prototype of this technology, which promises increased energy density and environmental impact, was showcased at the Battery Show and EV Tech Expo in Michigan.
An innovative alternative
The LuK TorCon torque converter program, targeting cars, light and medium-duty trucks, continues to grow with the addition of new applications for 6F35, 6L80, 68RFE and 48RE transmissions. With no core charge, these innovative components offer a new, OE-quality alternative to remanufactured products. It increases shop efficiency by simplifying repairs and reducing turnaround times. To support industry professionals, Schaeffler deploys its Repxpert web platform, providing training, videos and installation guides. Torque converters represent one of the company’s key segments, manufacturing them for OEMs.
