Schrader celebrates 40 years of TPMS

While Schrader has been marketing tire pressure monitoring sensors (TPMS) for 40 years, this milestone in no way overshadows the company’s constant drive to look toward the future.
Recognizing that TPMS is an important safety feature, Schrader proved its point as early as 1994, when it installed the small sensors as original equipment on Corvettes. Since then, several countries have made them mandatory on all new vehicles sold within their borders — though that’s not yet the case in Canada.
Fortunately, Schrader offers a solution: AirCheck BLE, a set of tire pressure sensors that send alerts to drivers through a smartphone app.
“It’s a very comprehensive tool,” explains Mariam Lochoshvili of Schrader. “It not only tracks tire pressure, but also temperature and the remaining battery life of the sensors. In the event of a pressure drop, the user will also know which tire is affected.”
The tool is programmable. For example, if an operator drives off-road and needs to lower tire pressure for better traction, they can adjust the sensors to set a custom alert level.
The product has proven especially popular among classic car owners, but Canadian drivers who want this safety feature for newer vehicles can also benefit from it. Even better news for repair shops: Ms. Lochoshvili strongly recommends professional installation by experienced technicians. She adds that for the past 40 years, Schrader has continuously worked to simplify installation.
