At its booth, Dayco presented approximately sixty new part numbers for timing chains, while emphasizing the importance of technician support.
Bob Rosen and Jay Buckley explained that timing chains have made a strong comeback in the automotive industry as manufacturers seek more efficient and environmentally friendly engines.
Replacing these chains, which are significantly more durable than belts, after their service life represents a complex but profitable task for shops that can execute it properly.
“We offer high-quality replacement kits backed by solid warranties,” explains Rosen. “It takes only one defective part to tarnish our reputation and break the trust relationship with the installer.”
However, he notes that replacement requires several hours of labour, and the technician performing the work must know what to expect. If their diagnosis indicates that the timing chain indeed needs replacement, Dayco has implemented a step-by-step support approach.
“Each replacement has its unique characteristics,” adds Buckley. “That’s why, by scanning the QR code on the box containing the chain and all necessary components for proper operation, the technician will be directed to a replacement process illustrated through videos for proper guidance.”
