The US company presented its distribution chain packages for Nissan, Infiniti and Suzuki family vehicles as noteworthy new products at the AAPEX 2020 virtual show.
Cloyes develops, manufactures and markets distribution systems and accessories for the aftermarket. Its commitment is to offer quality parts that are important to engine performance and durability.
In the showcase of new products, Cloyes has turned the spotlight on distribution chain assemblies that it has just added to its extensive catalogue of parts in this category. This time it’s a package targeting the 3.5-litre and 4-litre V6 engines for Nissan, Infiniti and Suzuki found in the Altima, G35, Maxima, Murano, Pathfinder, Quest and Xterra models, among others. The years of coverage range from models produced from 2002 to 2019. In total, coverage covers 3 million vehicles currently on the road in North America.
Parts are designed to replace worn or damaged chains, as well as tensioners, sprockets and sprockets connected to the water pump. It is therefore a complete solution for technicians.
Replace it all
For Jason Thompson, Vice President of Product Development at Cloyes, this is an extension of the water pump products. Since water pumps tend to fail more frequently than the line, he says, workshops need to be offered a package that allows all parts to be replaced simultaneously. This reduces the risk of subsequent breakdowns and the number of returns by customers who will be dissatisfied with having to pay additional labour costs.
The pumps offered by Cloyes are tested before they are put on the market under eight different test benches that will validate their power, flow rate, pressure and temperature under stress, among others. Thompson emphasizes the importance for the mechanic to always replace the timing chain and accessories when replacing a water pump to preserve the long-term performance of the system.
