The first model was designed on the new electric-only platform and the Kia EV6 made its world premiere on July 27.

Presented as a vehicle redefining the future of the Korean manufacturer, the EV6, 100% electric, is a balance between a sports car and an SUV.

Offering the experience of a performance car with an emphasis on space and driving pleasure based on new technologies.

Designed on the new E-GMP modular platform, this vehicle has a flat floor that offers great accommodation possibilities.

According to its designers, cabin space was the primary motivation in preparing this vehicle, which should be available in Canada in early 2022.

Space freed up by the absence of auxiliary combustion engines results in a gain in livability equivalent to a mid-size or full-size SUV.

The interior is designed with the dual objective of using a maximum of recycled materials but also offering a unique experience to the driver and his passengers.

The dashboard, combined with the high-tech head-up display, can be customized and zero-gravity seats promise a higher level of comfort.

Three versions of the EV6 will be offered, including one with all-wheel drive, powered by two electric motors. Two sets of batteries, 58 or 77.4 kWh are offered.

Fast charging

Depending on the model and options chosen, Kia EV6 could reach a range of up to 500 kilometres on a single charge. At the virtual launch, Kia also explained that charging is fast, with a 350-kilowatt terminal adding 100 kilometres of range in just five minutes.

In less than 20 minutes, the user could increase the load from 10% to 80%.

As a reminder, Kia has committed to having 25% of its global sales be electric vehicles within the next four years. To achieve this goal, the Korean company has promised to introduce 11 new electric vehicles by 2025.
