SUV Winter Lineup: Pirelli Unveils Third-Generation Winter Tire

Pirelli’s new Scorpion Winter 3 provides automotive retailers and tire centers with a high-margin product engineered for heavy SUVs and electric powertrains.

Pirelli has introduced the Scorpion Winter 3, its third-generation winter tire designed specifically for SUVs and crossovers. The launch completes a multi-year overhaul of the Italian tire manufacturer’s cold-weather portfolio, positioning the product line to capture expanding market share across the heavy-vehicle segment.

Engineered to address the higher center of gravity and increased curb weight of modern SUVs, the tire features a redesigned contact patch that distributes pressure peaks to extend tread life and deliver consistent grip as the tire wears. The tread design incorporates a zigzag central groove, patented Snow Keeper Teeth technology for enhanced snow-on-snow traction, and reinforced tread blocks to maintain dry handling performance under heavy vehicle loads.

Launching in 30 sizes spanning 18 to 22 inches, all dimensions earn an A-rating for wet grip on the EU label. The lineup includes optional Elect technology for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, which internal testing shows can increase range by up to 10%. For Canadian tire distributors and retail auto service centers, the new line provides a specialized solution to support evolving consumer and commercial fleet vehicle requirements.
