Bridgestone Expands Production Capacity in Four Japanese Plants

Bridgestone announced the expansion of production capacity for premium passenger car tires at four plants in Japan (Tochigi, Hikone, Hofu, and Tosu plants).

The expansion is an initiative to reinforce the structure to produce premium products. Construction will start in the first quarter of 2022. Entailing a total investment of approximately US $72 million, the production capacity expansions of premium passenger car tires are projected to result in an increase of approximately 6200 tires per day (more than 10% of current capacity) within 2025.

Bridgestone is moving forward with a premium business strategy, which “produce and sell” high value-added “Dan-Totsu Products” in its core business as described in their Mid Term Business Plan (2021-2023), which was announced in February 2021. “Dan-Totsu” means to be the clear and absolute leader.

Bridgestone will not only expand its sales of tires for passenger car as premium products, but will also reinforce and expand the innovative ENLITEN technology as the new “premium”. The company will expand its value not only as tire technology, but also as a product, through the improvement of tire performance to meet conditions of each customer use.
