Pirelli introduced the Scorpion Zero AS Plus 3, a new Ultra-High Performance All-Season tire designed specifically for SUVs and light trucks.

This tire combines the sporty performance of the Pirelli “Zero” product offering with the comfort and durability of the Pirelli “Plus” line which is specifically developed to meet the needs of North American drivers—in particular the demand for all-season tires capable of covering many miles with great handling.

The new product enriches the Pirelli Plus 3 family: the Scorpion Zero AS Plus 3 joins the P Zero AS Plus 3, Pirelli’s Ultra-High Performance All-Season tire designed specifically for premium cars, Scorpion AS Plus 3, Pirelli’s all-season tire for crossovers, sport utility vehicles, and pick-up trucks, and the P7 AS Plus 3, for sedans and coupes to round out the Pirelli Plus 3 family.

Staying ahead of the new trends of the market, with an always growing segment of hybrid and electric SUVs and light trucks, the new Scorpion Zero AS Plus 3 is available also with the Elect technology, designed to contribute to lower energy dissipation as a result of a 10% reduction in rolling resistance. The Elect version offers also a 15% improvement in wear compared to a non-Elect product.

The new tire tailored for ICE and Electric SUVs

Manufactured in Pirelli’s North American factories, this tire has been developed for SUVs and light trucks, presenting a stiffer sidewall structure to cope with larger load transfer typical of these kinds of vehicles.

It also presents a larger footprint (up to +10% compared to the previous generation) that translates into an improved wet performance. The higher V/T ratio in longitudinal and shoulder grooves of this new tire is engineered to ease water escape under high loads.

With the use of 3D sipe technology, combined with innovative materials such as functionalized polymers in the compounds, the new Pirelli tire is designed to deliver even wear, improved snow traction and braking, excellent performance on wet, and a comfortable ride with reduced cabin noise.

EV vehicles are transforming the tire market. That is why Pirelli offers this new tire also with the Elect technology, developed for exceptional energy efficiency and optimal grip on various road surfaces. These tires take into account the unique requirements of EVs championing lower rolling resistance more than conventional tires. The new Scorpion Zero AS Plus 3 Elect tires are built to deliver an efficient, quiet driving experience that more effectively manages the high torque and weight demands of the EV car park.

In particular, it comes with the PNCS technology (the Pirelli Noise Cancelling System), designed to cancel air cavity noises and vibrations resulting in a 1dB noise reduction. Pirelli’s engineers also optimized the pitch sequence and dimension, contributing to noise reduction of this tire and, overall, to an improvement in driving comfort.

“We are growing our offer for the North American market by continuing to expand our Plus 3 family”, said Claudio Zanardo, President and CEO of Pirelli North America. “As the automotive industry constantly evolves, Pirelli remains at the forefront of innovation and precision engineering. Today, we are thrilled to introduce our latest pinnacle of performance for the discerning North American driver—a new ultra-high-performance tire tailored for SUVs and light trucks. This tire represents the culmination of our tireless dedication to pushing the boundaries of technology and delivering unrivalled driving experiences. With a perfect blend of cutting-edge design, advanced materials, and relentless performance testing, this tire embodies the spirit of Pirelli’s commitment to excellence and to this Region as well”.

The new tire is available in 24 sizes, from 19 to 22 inches.
