This weekend, the NASCAR Pinty’s Series presented the second of 14 events in the 2023 season, on the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park road circuit in Bowmanville (northeast of Toronto).

It’s safe to say that Treyten Lapcevich’s 2023 season is off to a dream start. After winning the opener at Sunset Speedway a week ago, and now his maiden road course victory at CTMP, Lapcevich has a 12-point cushion as the month of May comes to a close for the series.

The only other time in series history that a driver has won the two opening events was Raphael Lessard, who swept the doubleheader at Sunset Speedway in 2021. Lapcevich has now set a new bar by winning on both an oval and a road course.

“We’re only two races in but it’s definitely a confidence booster for sure,” said Lapcevich. “ I think it’s important that we keep running our races and keep getting consistent finishes.”

But hiding in the shadows remains reigning champion, Marc-Antoine Camirand. Chaudière is where his 2022 season started to build. He finished second behind his GM Paillé teammate Andrew Ranger in Vallée-Jonction and at Eastbound he picked up his first win of the year, leading 138 of the 225 laps.

Teams will now have a few weeks off before they make the trip to Autodrome Chaudière in Vallée-Jonction, Quebec for the Bud Light 300 on Saturday, June 10th.
