A new “tailor-made” Pirelli Scorpion ATR tire has been designed exclusively for the new champions of the Ford family: the Bronco Sport and the Maverick.

With this new dedicated homologation, Pirelli covers all the needs of Ford owners: after the development of tailor-made tires for the Ford F-150, indeed, Pirelli is collaborating again with Ford to enhance the performance of its new SUV and its new Compact Truck.

Not by chance, Pirelli and Ford have had a strong relationship for more than 20 years, working together to develop tires specifically designed for a wide range of more than fifteen different Ford models.

These joint efforts manifest today in this new version of the Scorpion ATR with innovations designed to emphasize the performance both of the new Bronco Sport and the Maverick.

Ford’s targets for this special tire were particularly challenging: the request was to develop an all-terrain tire, with high off-road capabilities, able to combine the typical performance, handling and comfort characteristics of an all-season tire.

To meet these requirements, Pirelli engineers focused their work on two specific areas: the tread pattern and the compound.

This tailor-made Scorpion ATR is indeed a very versatile tire: it presents an aggressive tread pattern design to evacuate water, mud and stones, making it a perfect fit on tough off-road conditions.

Once back on the road, it provides maximum comfort, with a dedicated tread design developed to reduce tire noise.

Pirelli’s technicians also worked on a new generation of tread compound designed to offer excellent wet handling, outstanding wet braking and improved snow performance.

To achieve these goals, Pirelli deployed its most advanced simulation and engineering tools to meet Ford’s demanding tire specification targets at every iteration of development.

This digital and collaborative design approach significantly increased development speed and optimized tire performance, along with a reduction in the number of physical tires tested.
