Hankook Tire will provide original equipment for the Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman with its ultra-high performance (UHP) tires, starting in the spring of 2021.

The tires being fitted are Hankook’s Ventus S1 evo 3 tires in sizes 235/40 ZR19 (92Y) N-0 for the front axle and 265/40 ZR19 (98Y) N-0 for the rear axle.

This is in addition to the Porsche Cayenne and Taycan models already equipped with Hankook’s Ventus S1 evo 3 premium tires in both SUV and EV specifications.

“Porsche stands for particularly high-performance sports cars, delivering a high level of driving pleasure and, at the same time, full suitability for everyday use,” says Jeongho Park, Executive Vice President and Director of OE Division.

“However, this also makes tire development very complex. We are therefore extremely pleased with this original equipment, as it demonstrates the impressive performance of our products across the entire range.”

The Ventus S1 evo 3 is equipped with a high-strength bead core and reinforced sidewall, which ensures high driving stability, straight-line stability, and steering precision.

A light rayon carcass and special aramid composite material in the belt is used to enhance driving stability and steering precision, this aims to reduce unwanted expansion of the rolling circumference by up to 60%, even at very high speeds, compared to conventional materials.

“Our engineers aimed to ensure that the Ventus S1 evo3 would outperform its predecessor in almost all areas and become the most successful original equipment tread for Hankook on the market to date,” explains Moonhwa Hong, Vice President of OE Development Department.

“Sports cars with a mid-engine are always something special. That’s why the special driving experience of the Porsche 718 Boxster played a big role in the test drives,” confirms Aleix Alcaraz, Development Driver at Hankook Tire, responsible for the sports car division.
