Kumho Tire was crowned test winner by German motoring magazine Auto Bild.

Kumho Tire has finished in the first place and gained an ‘exemplary’ rating in a summer tire test carried out by Auto Bild.

The results of Auto Bild tests serve as a reliable evaluation of cars and related products, granting a de facto certification for the auto industry.

The magazine awarded first place to the Ecsta HS51, Kumho’s best-selling tire in the European market.

In the preliminary round of its recent tests, Auto Bild compared the dry and wet braking performances of 53 summer tires from major manufacturers that sell in Europe, before scrutinizing the top 20 models more closely to decide final standings.

Granting the ‘Exemplary’ rating to the versatile tire, Auto Bild said, “The Ecsta HS51 offers excellent grip on both wet and dry roads and its precise steering and short braking distances allow for the best driving behaviour and stability of performance.”

The PS71, a signature model from Kumho’s sports tire line-up Ecsta, was ranked third out of all the candidates from 17 companies in the 17-inch ultra-high-performance (UHP) tire discipline, joining models from such brands as Continental, Bridgestone and Falken in receiving a ‘Good’ rating, the highest of all the ratings given by the test.

In addition, the Ecsta HS51 finished a joint fourth out of 15 contestants in the 16inch high-performance (HP) tire category, which is yet another validation of Kumho’s technological capabilities.

Since 2020, it has been fitted on the Octavia and the Kamiq, both of which are manufactured by the Czech Republic’s automaker, ŠKODA AUTO.
