Hankook Tire will work together with Hyundai Motor and Kia to develop intelligent services for consumables management based on the companies’ data and technologies.
Hankook Tire signed MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Hyundai and Kia on developing data-based services through a virtual signing ceremony held on March 11.
Through this partnership agreement, the companies will build a system to exchange data and technologies needed for developing a mobility solution for vehicle operation and management.
Hyundai Motor and Kia will share their open vehicle data platform and data from connected cars while Hankook will share tire-related data and tire condition checking technologies with each other, through which companies will jointly develop a solution to measure and predict tire wear as well as tire condition.
Besides, they will futher analyze and process shared and collected data to develop a tire management service that gives notifications such as when to replace a tire according to the vehicle model and driver.
They are also planning to study how tire wear and condition changes affect a vehicle’s performance, fuel efficiency and safety.
