From Hankook Tire Canada comes this news—the renowned international ratings platform for CSR and sustainability practices has awarded Hankook the highest level of recognition.

Global premium tire maker Hankook Tire has been awarded the Platinum Medal by CSR assessment institution, EcoVadis, the highest level of recognition for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) performance.

This distinction is only awarded to companies scoring in the top 1% of their industry sector and places Hankook within the top 1% of the 353 rubber product manufacturers around the world.

Hankook is honoured to be, once again, recognized by EcoVadis. We believe this is a statement to our efforts in building a sustainable ecosystem for the industry as well as our pursuit to be socially responsible in every aspect of the business.

— Sooil Lee, Hankook Tire President & COO

“We take great pride in our sustainability initiatives and will continue our commitment to make the world we live in a better place,” Lee added.

EcoVadis

EcoVadis is an international institution based in France that assesses CSR within four categories: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

It evaluates approximately 6,500 companies from 160 countries around the world and is highly trusted by European carmakers. The medals include Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze.

Hankook has received a Platinum Medal in recognition of its clear CSR goal – participation in various sustainability initiatives and CSR-related policies.

Specifically, Hankook has set an aggressive CSR goal for 2050, including implementing the use of 100% sustainable materials and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% compared to 2018.

In the meantime, the company is taking part in corporate sustainability initiatives with the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and is promoting CSR-related policies such as the “Sustainable Natural Rubber Policy”.

Hankook received the Gold Medal last year when it was the highest possible level of recognition assigned to the companies in the top 5%. EcoVadis has added the Platinum Medal this year to distinguish the top 1% of companies, and Hankook has again proved itself to be a global top-tier company in sustainable business practices.

Hankook continues to show its leadership in its commitment to being recognized as a top tier-company in corporate sustainability, driving financial and CSR performance with initiatives encompassing environmentally friendly factory management and social contributions.

As a result, Hankook was named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices World (DJSI World) for four consecutive years since 2016. It was the only Asian company in the auto components industry listed in the DJSI World in 2019.
