As sustainability continues to reshape the automotive and tire industries, the 2025 Rubber Recycling Symposium, hosted by the Tire and Rubber Association of Canada (TRAC), is emerging as a must-attend event for professionals from across the tire and rubber value chain.

Set for October 8–9 at the historic Fairmont Palliser Hotel in Calgary, this biennial gathering will bring together global experts, innovators, and policymakers to explore the future of tire recycling and circularity.

Under the theme “Tires Reimagined: Sustainability in Motion,” the Symposium will spotlight the latest developments in end-of-life tire (ELT) management, extended producer responsibility (EPR), end market development strategies, and more. With mounting pressure to reduce the environmental footprint of tires from production to disposal, this event offers a timely platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Innovation and evolving landscape

Invited speakers include representatives from leading organizations such as Michelin Canada, Pirelli North America, Pliteq, Tyre Stewardship Australia, and the U.S. and European Tire Manufacturers Association, among others. A highlight of the program is the CEO panel, featuring executives from tire recycling and rubber moulded product companies who will share candid insights on innovation, policy, and the evolving market landscape.

Attendees will also hear from Fredrik Ardefors, CEO of Swedish Tyre Recycling (SDAB), who returns to the Symposium to share updates on the organization’s groundbreaking work, including the launch of the world’s first research portal for recycled tire rubber. Meanwhile, Stephanie Mull, newly appointed Executive Director of the Tire Recycling Foundation, will introduce the Foundation’s mission and roadmap for advancing tire recycling in the U.S. through strategic funding and research.

Beyond the panels and presentations, the Symposium offers unmatched networking opportunities with tire manufacturers, recyclers, stewardship organizations, researchers, and regulators. Optional tours of Kal Tire’s retread facility and other sites on October 10 will give attendees a firsthand look at innovative recycling operations in action.
