SKF distinguishes itself as a supplier of OEM-quality bearings and seals, covering both light and heavy-duty vehicles. Offering high-precision products and technical expertise backed by sustained training, the company continues to innovate to meet the expectations of an evolving market.
In response to the growing electric vehicle (EV) market in China, SKF recently tested new replacement parts kits intended for the aftermarket, particularly for Tesla vehicles. The strong adoption of this type of powertrain in China is driving an increasing demand for repairs, indicates Cengiz Shevket, President of Aftermarket Sales for North America at SKF, paving the way for promising business opportunities for independent repair shops.
While on our continent, electric powertrain maintenance is predominantly performed at dealerships, the Chinese model is more oriented toward the aftermarket, a trend that is expected to grow.
SKF took advantage of the AAPEX show in Las Vegas to gauge customer interest in its cutting-edge product. “We’re trying to see if there will be movement in other markets,” explains Mr. Shevket. Its commercialization in America will thus depend on the enthusiasm generated during this major event.
While preparing its transition to electric, the company continues to strengthen its solution offerings for internal combustion engines, notably with the rollout of a complete range of timing chain kits. Internal combustion powertrains, which continue to see strong demand, currently generate the majority of SKF’s sales.
