Supplier Gates explained at its booth how its expertise allows it to develop replacement parts for electric vehicles.

For Michel Metcalfe, National Sales Manager for Gates, detailed the company’s approach to meeting the maintenance and repair needs of electric vehicles that come to aftermarket shops.

“Obviously, electric vehicles have fewer belts than their fuel-powered versions. That said, they have a multitude of valves, coolant lines and electric pumps. Our company, with its expertise developed in the European market, which is at least four years ahead of ours in terms of transportation electrification, will be able to meet this new demand.”

As Metcalfe explains, this expertise and technology transfer capability will allow Gates to be a major player in the supply of specialized replacement parts when the North American market is in demand in a few years.
