Georgetown Golf Club saw 134 golfers hit the links Thursday, September 8th for the AIA Ontario Division High Five for Kids Golf Tournament.
The weather was great… quite warm for September… but everyone enjoyed the day plus the great playing conditions at this impressive Club Link Georgetown location.
Andy Murphy—organizer of the event and the evening’s spokesperson—thanked everyone for turning out for this important event—volunteers and participants. He then introduced AIA Central Ontario Division’s Chairperson, Brad Thomas, who went on to thank the 49 different hole sponsors saying they certainly helped make the event a profitable one for High Five for Kids… the charity which was the recipient of the monies collected for this golf tournament.
Enrich the life of a child
As Andy said and which was stated on the ‘thank you’ note for sponsor support on all the tables, “None of this is possible without you and your support here today. If we as a group will help enrich the life of only one child by what we raised here today, we will have done our share to make their life easier and more enjoyable.”
Dave Fifield, filling in for Ray Proulx, Chairman of AIA’s High Five for Kids, re-iterated this statement and thanked all for their contributions.
The 50/50 draw winner was announced, the closest man and woman to the pin, the closest to the line, the best team score of the day, and next the raffle draws were announced.
Then came the big moment—the announcement of the amount collected for this annual supported event! Brad and Andy turned over a cheque to the High Five for Kids charity in the amount of $10,000.00 to Dave Fifield, an amount that will certainly be put to great use for some child in need. This would certainly make the group feel good about what they did in helping to enhance the life of a child! Everyone sincerely contributed and this was a great amount to present to the charity. Well done all!
