Lamborghini’s latest supercar breaks the brand’s own performance records.
Lamborghini recently took the wraps off one of their newest and most exciting creations, the Fenomeno. Speaking at the Quail Lodge & Golf Club in Carmel, California during Monterey Car Week in August of this year, Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini explained what sets this new vehicle apart from everything the brand has created.
“The Fenomeno introduces the most advanced technical solutions in our history, pushing the boundaries of performance and design, while honouring the values and achievements that are a fundamental part of our DNA,” he said. “Unveiling the Fenomeno at The Quail, a prestigious celebration of automotive excellence in our largest global market, offers the perfect setting for our customers to experience this Few-Off masterpiece in person.”
The word “Fenomeno” means “phenomenal” in both Italian and Spanish, and according to Lamborghini, “Fenomeno takes its name from a courageous and renowned bull fought in Morelia, Mexico in 2002.”
That said, this new supercar does indeed boasts some truly phenomenal specs: an 823-hp naturally-aspirated V12, plus another 241 hp from three electric motors for a total output of 1064 hp. The Fenomeno boasts a zero to 100 km/h time of 2.4 seconds and a top speed of 350 km/h.
According to the company, the Fenomeno is the most powerful Lamborghini V12 ever. The Revuelto held the title prior, with 813 hp. It’s also the fastest Lamborghini ever. Here again, the Revuelto held this title, reaching a top speed of over 350 km/h and accelerating to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds.
“Few-Off” series

The Fenomeno is part of Lamborghini’s “Few-Off” series. In an interview with Autosphere Mag, Lamborghini explained what that means: “Our main objective for the “Few-Off” series is to create value for the brand, while celebrating its success, and crafting an iconic model that can preserve and enhance its value for the customers who purchase these exclusive models.
“The Fenomeno takes the company’s most representative design elements to the extreme, while paying tribute to Lamborghini’s tradition of limited-edition models that began in 2007 with the Reventón, and includes standout Few-Off models such as the Sesto Elemento (2010), Veneno (2013), Centenario (2016), Sián (2019), and Countach LPI 800-4 (2021).
When Lamborghini uses the term “Few-Off,” they’re not kidding. Only 29 units were available for sale, with an extra unit produced for the factory museum, for a total of 30. It’s probably not a surprise, but the Fenomeno is already sold out, and according to the brand, it had a starting price of USD $3.5 million.
Although Lamborghini wasn’t willing to tell us who purchased any of the 29 available units, they were willing to share the following: “With the new “Few-Off” Fenomeno, we produce a limited number of cars to reward the loyalty of our best customers.”
Fascinating tech
According to Lamborghini, the Fenomeno is equipped with technologies typically found in race cars: “The CCM-R Plus brake system with carbon-ceramic discs guarantees maximum efficiency on both road and track. The single-nut forged rims contribute to delivering exceptional agility, while the special track-oriented tires custom-engineered by Bridgestone offer outstanding grip. Completing the Fenomeno is sport-tuned suspension, making the Fenomeno extremely precise and stable during sports driving.”
The hybrid powertrain includes a mid-mounted 6.5-liter V12 engine combined with three electric motors, one of which is integrated within the new eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The company says that building the electric motor directly into the dual-clutch transmission offers several advantages: It makes the system more compact and lighter, reduces mechanical losses for higher efficiency, and delivers smoother performance by providing instant torque during gear shifts.
As for the braking system, Lamborghini says that the Brembo CCM-R Plus discs were originally designed to excel in endurance championships, and are state-of-the-art. The discs feature a 3D structure of long carbon fibres embedded in a carbon matrix, with a special coating that delivers two notable advantages: (1) Increased durability and wear reduction for both the disc braking surface and the pads. (2) An improved friction coefficient, resulting in higher and more stable friction with no pre-bedding required.
Finally, Lamborghini engineers decided to make the body panels from carbon fibre in order to achieve maximum weight reduction while ensuring exceptional rigidity. By lowering the mass, engineers improved acceleration, handling, and efficiency, while the material’s strength and flexibility allowed for more extreme aerodynamic shapes to enhance performance.
“With the Fenomeno, Lamborghini once again presents an incomparable super sports car in a limited edition. The combination of the most powerful V12 in our history, breathtaking design, superior aerodynamics, and cutting-edge technologies such as extreme lightweight construction make the Fenomeno the most extraordinary super sports car of our time,” said Winkelmann. “It stands as a true manifesto of technology and design. A phenomenon in name and nature.”
