Kia took advantage of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, currently underway, to present its future range of electric commercial vehicles under the PBV family.
This name, PBV for Platform Beyond Vehicle, will cover three adaptable models, the PV5, PV7 and PV1.
These all-electric vehicles, currently in prototype versions, will be produced and marketed in three successive phases.
Production of the PV5 will be launched first in Korea in 2025, with export to world markets including North America in 2026.
The Kia PV5 will target commercial delivery fleets and passenger transport. The modular design concept will enable the factory to produce various versions on the same platform.
A minivan, a high-roof van, a pickup version (for the time being aimed at the Asian market) and a passenger version will all be produced at the same plant, which is currently being prepared in Korea.
The base model is priced at US$35,000.
Successive phases over the next few years will see the introduction of the PV7, a larger version of the PV5, and the PV1, an urban vehicle that could be fully automated.
We’ll be bringing you a full version of this announcement and details of all Kia’s GVW vehicles shortly.
