August was not a good month for new vehicle sales in Canada as transactions were down by almost 13%.
In Quebec, just over 30,000 sales were concluded in August, compared to over 34,000 during the same month last year, a decrease of almost 13%. The year 2022, as of August, shows a decline of 15.7% in Quebec, slightly higher than the decline posted in Canada as a whole for the same period, which reached 12.7%.
According to the Desrosiers Automotive Consultants report, Quebec is doing better than Ontario, British Columbia and Nova Scotia. Only Saskatchewan saw its sales increase by 3.3% in August. The report states that new light vehicle sales in Canada remain disappointing across the board. However, some embellishments are appearing in targeted regions as well as with some manufacturers.
