Integrating Drive-Through Scanning With AI Appraisal

Mitchell and Tractable are partnering to integrate the LumaScanner automated inspection system with the Mitchell Intelligent Estimating platform.
Connecting drive-through vehicle inspection scanners directly to AI estimating platforms enables Canadian collision centres to eliminate check-in bottlenecks and streamline preliminary claims generation.
Software solutions provider Mitchell has announced plans for an exclusive integration partnership with Tractable, linking Tractable’s LumaScanner automated vehicle inspection hardware directly with Mitchell Intelligent Estimating. Designed for independent collision facilities and multi-site operators (MSOs) across North America, the combined system converts automated exterior drive-through scans into preliminary damage appraisals within minutes of vehicle drop-off.
For Canadian collision repair facility owners, production managers, and appraisal staff, manual intake photography and initial file set-up create recurring administrative delays during morning rush check-ins. As damaged or towed vehicles pass through the automated inspection gantry, high-resolution imaging systems generate a standardized, time-stamped condition report, capturing pre-existing unrelated damage while feeding clear optical data directly into the cloud-based blueprinting engine.
According to Olivier Baudoux, Senior Vice President of Global Product Strategy and Artificial Intelligence at Mitchell, pairing automated physical capture with machine-learning appraisal software removes front-office friction while leaving final line-item adjustments under the direct control of shop estimators. Expediting photographic intake and initial estimate drafting enables collision centres to secure earlier insurer authorisations, shorten key-to-key cycle times, and increase total billable volume moving onto shop-floor repair lines.
