AkzoNobel and Axalta Coating Systems have announced Axanzo as the official corporate name for their combined entity following completion of their proposed merger. Expected to close in early 2027 subject to regulatory approvals, the $25 billion USD transaction will unite the two global coatings manufacturers under the stock ticker symbol AXZ.
For Canadian collision repair centers, commercial refinishers, and automotive jobbers, the combined portfolio will encompass approximately 100 paint and refinish brands across 160 countries. According to corporate executives, the merger aims to pool research and development resources to introduce faster-curing, eco-friendly coatings while expanding technical support networks for collision networks.
Both companies will continue operating as distinct, independent entities until the transaction receives final regulatory sign-off. Existing distribution agreements, field representative support, and product supply channels for automotive body shops remain fully operational during the transition phase.
