Retro-fantastic event will descend on Oakville, Ontario, August 13.
Oblivion, the 1980s and 1990s car and culture show returns for 2023, this time taking place at the St. Volodymyr Cultural Centre, 1280 Dundas Street West, in Oakville, Ontario.
Oblivion V (each event is designated by Roman numerals) is more than just a car show, it’s an immersive, interactive 1980s and 1990s car and cultural experience.
As a result, the venue is just as integral a part of the event as the rad rides, music and other onsite attractions. The St. Volodymyr Cultural Centre offers the ideal setting with its retro architecture and sprawling grounds.
This year, the theme of the event is White Wedding, a reference to Billy Idol’s famous tune, which also features in the 1990s hit comedy The Wedding Singer, which itself, was set in 1985!
Period dress is encouraged, and bonus points will be awarded to those that wear appropriate wedding attire!
Oblivion started as an idea to celebrate the cars and culture that many of us grow up with in the 1980s and 1990s. The first event, hosted in 2018 was an unqualified success, attracting people from across Canada. Since then, the Oblivion phenomenon has continued to grow and expand. In 2022, an entire vintage shopping centre was transformed into a retro Oblivion mall for the day, complete with retro arcades, vendors and period cars.
