Hanvey has led the association since December 2015, advocating for independent repair facilities, parts manufacturers, and distributors across North America.

The Board of Directors of the Auto Care Association has announced that President and CEO Bill Hanvey will retire effective June 30, 2027, closing out a career spanning more than 40 years in the automotive aftermarket.

Hanvey has led the association since December 2015, advocating for independent repair facilities, parts manufacturers, and distributors across North America. His tenure has been defined by legislative leadership on Right to Repair issues, including pushing the federal REPAIR Act through Congress to protect open access to vehicle diagnostic data.

“It’s been the honor of my career to lead this association,” said Hanvey. “While I have announced my retirement, my work is far from finished. Over the coming months, I will continue tirelessly pursuing passage of the REPAIR Act to protect vehicle owners and independent repair shops.”

“His leadership has left this association stronger, more data-driven, and better positioned for the future,” stated Greg Noethlich, Chair of the Auto Care Association Board of Directors.

For Canadian aftermarket executives, parts distributors, and independent shop owners, Hanvey’s ongoing tenure through June 2027 ensures continuity in cross-border aftermarket advocacy and data-sharing initiatives.
