At AAPEX 2025, Autosphere had a chance to visit with Mitchell 1 and learn about upgrades to its award-winning 1Search Plus dashboard tool contained within the ProDemand Shop Key automotive software.
Often, technicians and service writers struggle when it comes to providing detailed estimates for their customers, the result is often delays, confusion and missed opportunities for service work. In fact, Gerry Beronja, Vice President, Marketing, Repair Systems & Information for Snap-On, notes that on average, it can take service writers 25 minutes to put together an estimate, and even then, the result can be inaccurate, featuring the wrong labour rate and incorrect parts. And a lot of that is down to how key words are searched for online, with misspelled items often resulting in the wrong part or an incorrect estimate. Now, with a new “Did You Mean” feature within 1Search Plus in Mitchell 1’s ProDemand, techs and service writers can find the correct information they need by automatically suggesting corrected industry terms when typos or extra characters are entered in the search bar.
The new functionality is designed to go beyond standard type-ahead features by functioning as a “smart” safety net that keeps searches on track. By automatically recognizing misspelled or mistyped terms, “Did You Mean” instantly suggests correctly spelled search terms, helping technicians stay focused on the repair instead of troubleshooting their search. The end result, is a powerful and accurate search experience for automotive service professionals, one that’s designed to boost efficiency and enhance the overall repair process for both service centres and their customers.
