As we near Remembrance Day on November 11th, it is time to take a moment and thank our veterans for their service and sacrifice and remember the men and women who have given so much for our country and our freedom.
Remembrance Day plays a significant role in Canada’s history, and we encourage everyone to take a moment to stop and reflect on November 11th.
The pandemic has been difficult for our veterans as restrictions have meant smaller ceremonies or outright cancellations.
The Digital Poppy is one way Canadians can support those who served while honouring the Fallen.
Canadians are encouraged to create a Digital Poppy on mypoppy.ca, add a customized commemoration, and share with family and friends on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram while donating to the Legion National Foundation.
Last year Sailun Tire Americas (STA) decided to donate $10,000 to the Legion’s Poppy Campaign and will be once again making another $10,000 donation this year.
In addition to that, we encourage our staff, customers and business partners to consider making a donation of their own to the Legion National Foundation by either purchasing a digital poppy or directly through the Legion National Foundation’s website, linked here.
The Legion National Foundation is a national organization that is dedicated to enriching the lives of Veterans in the Canadian Armed Forces and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Through donations, they support initiatives that further Veterans’ health and wellness, connect youth and children to the contributions of Veterans, and provide students with scholarships and bursaries to pursue their education.
“We often get caught up in the day-to-day hectic pace of life without thinking of the sacrifices that others have had to make in order for us to enjoy the freedoms we have. We owe a great debt of gratitude to the many men and women that sacrificed so much for our way of life. This donation is a token of our thanks for their service and a way to show our support and honour our veterans. Lest We Forget,” says Peter Koszo, President, Sailun Tire Americas.
“The support of the Digital Poppy is crucial for not only remembering our Veterans and their families but also to impact them significantly in terms of mental health supports, housing needs and healthcare. We are grateful for Canadians who step up in this way during this time of Remembrance.” David Flannigan, Chair, Legion National Foundation.
