Cooper Tire has announced the launch of a new tire, designed to tackle extreme winter conditions, for SUVs and pickup trucks—the Cooper Discoverer Snow Claw tire.
The company states in a release that the tire has been built for confident performance and grip on roads during extreme cold, snow and ice conditions.
Before deciding to launch the Discoverer Snow Claw tire, Cooper Tire has snow-tested it in four countries across three continents. The company’s patented Snow Groove technology that enables the grooves of the tire to trap snow is featured in the tire. This allows the tire to deliver increased traction, better handling and greater stopping power.
The tire’s design allows it to stay flexible in extremely cold temperatures. For providing extreme grip and traction, the tire has been engineered such that tire studs can be added onto it.
To build confidence in drivers regarding its winter and snow performance rating, the Discoverer Snow Claw tire features the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) designation. Cooper Tire states in a release that the tire has been created and developed by experts who are familiar with winters in North America.
“Winter weather is unpredictable; drivers need tires that they can be confident are made with proven technology to get them where they need to go safely in even the most extreme conditions,” said Andrea Berryman, Director of Product Development at Cooper Tire. “With the addition of the new Discoverer Snow Claw winter tires to the Cooper product lineup, truck and SUV drivers now have a tire option for extreme ice traction and excellent snow performance, which are essential for drivers to capably navigate extreme winter road conditions.”
Cooper Tire customers will be able to order the Discoverer Snow Claw tire from the beginning of April. The tire will be available to consumers from October onwards.
