Innovation Recognized at Automechanika

The winners of the Automechanika Innovation Awards were recognized during a gala ceremony on the opening day of the show. The jury awarded innovations across ten categories, including sustainable powertrain solutions, smart workshop solutions, advanced parts and vehicle technologies, as well as the circular economy and remanufacturing. A Green Award was also presented for an exceptionally noteworthy sustainable solution.

An international 17-member expert jury selected the winners from a total of 185 entries. In total, 47 products and solutions had previously advanced to the final round. Applications were evaluated on their degree of innovation, cost-effectiveness, user benefits, functionality, aftermarket relevance, safety, durability, and quality, as well as their contribution to environmental protection, resource preservation, and sustainability.

“An idea becomes an innovation when it makes a difference in practice: when it improves processes, conserves resources, opens up new possibilities, or solves a specific problem,” said Michael Johannes, Brand Manager for Automechanika at Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH, during the ceremony. “The entries impressively demonstrate how actively the industry is shaping change, with solutions designed for body shops, the retail sector, industry, and tomorrow’s mobility. Especially in times of transformation, it is all the more important to give visibility to these innovations and connect the industry’s key players.”

Among the winners were an autonomous vehicle inspection robot, an AI-assisted diagnostic assistant, and a digital system for core returns and evaluation. Solutions aimed at extending parts life cycles and reducing resource consumption also won over the jury.

The Green Award is a special recognition presented by the jury for particularly sustainable innovations. This year, Autocraft was awarded for its “Autocraft REVIVE EV Battery Workshops.” This concept enables the repair and remanufacturing of high-voltage batteries to bring them back to market. This approach—one that will certainly resonate with our readers—demonstrates how resources can be preserved, emissions reduced, and sustainable solutions implemented on a large scale across the aftermarket.

While few of these companies, if any, are familiar to our readers, it is nevertheless intriguing to see what the future holds, as Europe demonstrates a strong commitment to cutting-edge technological developments, particularly in resource conservation and fuel consumption reduction.
