The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has officially opened its summer registration window for technician certification testing across North America.
Automotive service professionals seeking to earn or renew their credentials have until September 30, 2026, to complete their registration using a newly redesigned online store and account portal built to simplify test selection.
Upon completing registration through the online platform, candidates receive a 90-day window to schedule and sit for their chosen examinations. To accommodate busy shop schedules, the organization offers flexible testing formats. Technicians can complete their exams in person at proctored Prometric testing centers. Alternatively, remote testing options allow professionals to take recertification tests as well as the initial auto maintenance and light repair certification online. Technicians holding automobile series certifications from A1 through A9 can also utilize the ASE Renewal mobile application to manage ongoing recertification directly from their mobile devices.
For Canadian dealership service departments, independent repair facilities, and commercial fleet operators, ASE certifications remain a widely respected benchmark for technical competency. The availability of remote testing and mobile renewal options allows Canadian technicians to maintain internationally recognized credentials without interrupting shop operations or traveling to physical test centers.
