Edelmann Elite Launches Remote Power Steering Reservoirs to Halt Pump Failures

Remote reservoirs act as the primary fluid source when tight engine bay packaging prevents pump-mounted tanks.
Targeting a primary but frequently misdiagnosed failure point within hydraulic steering systems, Plews & Edelmann has introduced its all-new line of Edelmann Elite Remote Power Steering Reservoirs. Engineered to match strict OE performance standards, the application-specific line is designed to safeguard newly installed pumps from premature field failures.
Remote reservoirs act as the primary fluid source when tight engine bay packaging prevents pump-mounted tanks. Over continuous drive cycles, the internal screen within original factory reservoirs inevitably clogs with circulating debris, starving the pump of fluid and inducing severe cavitation, whining, and erratic steering assist. Furthermore, sustained under-hood thermal cycles warp and crack factory plastic housings, causing the system to draw in air pockets without showing an obvious external fluid leak.
For automotive technicians, counter sales personnel, and independent service centers, reusing an old reservoir during a pump or rack-and-pinion replacement routinely ruins the repair. “The reservoir is the easiest part on a power steering job to overlook,” stated Anthony Holguin, Director of Category Management at Plews & Edelmann. “But that carried-over reservoir is still holding contaminated fluid and a clogged screen, and it goes right to work shortening the life of the new pump.”
The initial product release (part numbers 5500RR to 5511RR) covers popular late-model import applications, including Acura, Honda, Infiniti, Lexus, Subaru, and Toyota platforms operating heavily across Canadian provinces. Now available through authorized automotive aftermarket distributors, the 100% newly manufactured components support a comprehensive repair philosophy.
By grouping the pump, hoses, cooler, and reservoir into a unified service routine, repair shops can eliminate early fluid degradation, reducing warranty returns on commercial shop bays.
