August 27th turned out to be a hot, sunny day for the annual Carquest Canada/Worldpac Ontario golf event—the predicted rain held off, thank goodness and 115 golfers hit the links for a day of spectacular golf. It was also a great way to meet new golfing partners… have fun or concentrate on the game!
When everyone had finished their round, they got a chance to put their bids in for the wide array of items in the Silent Auction, and there were many amazing items to be had! Dinner was then served followed by awards to some golfers for their achievements on the course.
Because this event is a fund-raiser for the Carquest Canada/Worldpac Charitable Foundation, everyone’s focus turned to Lucien Jurca who spoke about their efforts to raise funds for their charities and said, “Thankfully we have the power of giving and hopefully fulfill the power of hope for some.”
The charity of choice this season was Crane Lake Discovery Camp. In fact, Ron Weber, a volunteer at the Crane Lake Discovery Camp for boys aged 10-15 spoke about this ‘wilderness adventure’ venue and how they have helped many underprivileged boys get their lives on track. Lucien presented Ron with a cheque for $1,500 for this Camp. Well done, everyone, and congratulations to all who participated in this donation.
Carquest Canada and Worldpac would like to thank each of their vendors for helping with this special charity event that benefits others.
