AIA Canada has let us know that the Government of Canada recently introduced measures introduced through the Supply Chains Act, which aim to increase industry awareness and transparency and drive businesses to improve practices.

Certain entities and government institutions must submit a report to the Minister of Public Safety by May 31 of each year.

You may be impacted if you are an:

  1. Organization listed on a stock exchange in Canada; OR
  2. Organization who has a place of business in Canada, does business in Canada or has assets in Canada and that, based on its consolidated financial statements, meets at least two of the following conditions for at least one of its two most recent financial years:
    • it has at least $20 million in assets,
    • it has generated at least $40 million in revenue, and
    • it employs an average of at least 250 employees.
