The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is hosting a free webinar for service technicians on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 4:00 p.m. ET entitled “EV Charging and High-Voltage Cooling.”
In the world of plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles, charging systems are key to proper operation. In this webinar, Peter McArdle with Standard Motor Products covers the various types of chargers, connectors and tests to perform when the vehicle does not charge properly. These tests are vital to technicians today and into the future.
A big part of charging is the various conversions of electricity from AC to DC, back to AC, or even changing it from high-voltage DC to 12-volt DC. With all this conversion, charging and discharging, there is a lot of heat generated. These vehicles have a variety of cooling systems to maintain the proper temperature of the batteries.
Topics covered in this session include:
- PHEV and EV charging connectors and types
- Voltage conversions on the vehicle
- Systems used to maintain battery temperature (air, coolant, traditional AC, heat pump AC or combination)
Participants in this webinar will receive a certificate of attendance for the live session. Please allow one week for automatic email delivery of the certificate.
After registering, a confirmation email will be sent containing information about joining the webinar. Those who are not sure if they can attend are encouraged to register as they will receive a follow-up email with details on how to attend a recorded session, if available. Access to recorded sessions is reserved for those who register for the live event.
