The Automotive Industries Association of Canada (AIA Canada) announced the launch of the Auto care landscape in Canada tool— an interactive, online map that plots the location of over 25,000 validated facilities, including collision repair, mechanical repair and new car dealers across the country.

This tool is exclusively available to AIA Canada members.

With this tool, AIA Canada members can get everything from an overview of the auto care sector on a provincial level to a street view look at an individual business’ storefront.

Each entry contains contact details and information on whether the business is an independent shop or part of a national or regional banner.

  • With a wealth of information and customizable display, the Auto care landscape in Canada tool is perfect for:
  • Identifying expansion opportunities
  • Planning distribution networks
  • Measuring saturation
  • And more!

You can learn more about this new tool and how to access it here.

About the project

The Auto care landscape series project is a response to the information gap that existed in understanding the auto care landscape in Canada, namely the collision, mechanical and new car dealer sectors. In particular, data on the number of businesses operating in each of the sectors was sparse and unverified. Secondary sources such as Statistics Canada provide an overall number of businesses but do not indicate how many are independent or belong to a regional or national banner.

There was also a gap in understanding what market dynamics are at play and how the various sectors interact with each other. Through a series of three reports published in 2021-2022, the landscape series provided much-needed insight into some of the trends impacting the auto care industry. Building on the database assets created as part of the landscape series, the Auto care landscape in Canada interactive map allows users to explore the data in a visual format.
