While visiting AAPEX 2022, Autosphere had a chance to stop by the CRP Automotive booth (#3471).

David Hirschhorn, Director, Brand Management and Monika LaPrete; Marketing and Communications Director, gave us a tour of the products on display.

CRP has carved out a reputation for bringing quality aftermarket kits and solutions to market, particularly for European branded vehicles. Key examples include clutch packs for dual clutch transmissions, which tend to be difficult to source in North America, plus timing chain kits for late-model Audi and Volkswagen vehicles. Hirschhorn explained, that while many European OEMs have moved away for rubber timing belts (which typically needed to be changed every 80,000 to 120,000 miles/129,000-194,000 km), and toward more reliable timing chains, which generally, don’t have replacement intervals, the latest generation of smaller, higher output engines do put extra stress on timing components. “Stretched and broken timing chains are becoming an issue on late-model, overhead cam engines,” Hirschhorn said. CRP offers complete replacement kits designed to address these issues, which are application specific to each vehicle.

Another interesting product line; are CRP’s transfer case overhaul kits. Like with some other products, Hirschhorn explained that due to the company’s OEM ties, it can offer application specific products like this for late-model BMWs which include all the internal components required to repair the transfer case system. “Often, around 120,000 miles (194,000 km) or 130,000 miles (209,000 km), these systems are failing, but replacing the entire transfer case is not often worth it. Now, we are giving technicians the opportunity to rebuild the existing transfer case, with components sourced from the OEM and keep the car on the road instead of sending it to the junkyard.”

Also, on display were CRPs new TechSelect turbo kits for BMWs, that provide technicians with all the components needed to reinstall the turbocharger system properly, including all of the oil and coolant hoses, as well as the gaskets and V-band clamps. Like other products, these kits are application specific.
