With automakers offering so many smaller SUVs, it’s easy to find one to meet the needs of your business and sales representatives. We’ve rounded up a list of some of the most popular choices for model-year 2023/2024. Fuel figures are for L/100 km city/highway/combined.

Chevrolet Equinox

The Equinox received a styling update for 2022, and now its engine gets a five-horsepower bump for 2023. It comes in two trim levels in FWD and four in AWD. Available features include adaptive cruise control, ventilated seats, automatic parking assist, hands-free liftgate, and OnStar connected services.

Ford Escape

The Escape adds a new ST-Line trim for 2023, with unique styling cues. Two engines are available, with FWD or AWD depending on trim. A hybrid powertrain can be added to all but the base model. The lineup tops out with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) that gets up to 60 km electric-only on a charge.

Honda CR-V

The CR-V is redesigned into an all-new model for 2023 and is now offered in Canada with a hybrid option. Gas-only models are FWD or AWD, while the hybrid is AWD-only. Standard or available features include remote starter, heated steering wheel, two-level cargo floor, and nine-inch infotainment screen.

Hyundai Tucson

The Tucson is essentially unchanged for 2023. It offers four trims in gas-only in FWD or AWD, along with two hybrid trims that can be optioned to plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) that get up to 53 kilometres of electric-only driving on a charge. Available features include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, 10.25-inch infotainment screen, and hands-free liftgate.

Jeep Compass

The Jeep Compass was restyled for 2022, and for 2023 it gets a new turbocharged 2.0-litre engine. All trims include AWD, with a more off-road-ready version on the Trailhawk trim. All trims include flat-folding front passenger seat, rear under-floor storage tray, wireless phone connectivity, rain-sensing wipers, and drowsy driver detection.

Kia Sportage

The Sportage is redesigned into an all-new model for 2023, now larger and with more cargo space. Also new for Canada, the Sportage offers a hybrid, plus and plug-in hybrid with up to 55 kilometres of electric-only driving. The entry gas-only trim comes in FWD, while everything else is AWD. Available features include air-cooled seats, panoramic sunroof, and 12.3-inch infotainment screen.

Mazda CX-50

The CX-50 is an all-new model for 2023. It’s similar to the CX-5 but slightly longer, lower and wider, and with a bit more cargo space. All CX-50 models are AWD and use a 2.5-litre engine that’s turbocharged in the upper trims. Standard equipment includes a panoramic sunroof, 10.25-inch infotainment screen, wireless phone connectivity, and heated seats and steering wheel.

Mitsubishi RVR

Unchanged for 2023, the RVR has a 2.0-litre engine in FWD or AWD, or a 2.4-litre in AWD only. In addition to distributing power to the front or rear wheels, the AWD can also send more to one side for better cornering. Available features include a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, and rain-sensing wipers.

Nissan Rogue

The Rogue was updated with an additional new engine for 2022, so its only major changes for 2023 are Alexa Built-In connectivity on upper trims, and a Midnight Edition appearance package. The base S trim uses a 2.5-litre engine, while all others have a 1.5-litre turbocharged powerplant. AWD is standard on all trims.

The Crosstrek is redesigned into an all-new version for 2024, with updated styling, more rigid chassis, revised AWD with faster response time, and available Wilderness trim with more ground clearance. Eyesight, a suite of camera-based driver-assist technologies, is now included on all trims.

Toyota RAV4

The RAV4 is available in gas-only, hybrid, and the RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid (PHEV), with up to 68 kilometres of electric-only driving. For 2023, the driver-assist safety technologies are improved; a larger touchscreen is available; and Toyota Multimedia subscription-based services are added. All models are AWD.

The Tiguan received a refresh for 2022 and is essentially unchanged for 2023. All models have standard AWD, and upper trims have R-Line unique styling cues. Available features include a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery and wireless connectivity.
