The Fondation québécoise d’éducation en sécurité routière (FQESR) unveiled today, during the Salon du véhicule électrique de Québec, their latest project: the Great Electric Car Rally 2022.

It is a captivating and unique event that will demonstrate that long-distance travel in an electric vehicle is easy, accessible and, above all, very enjoyable.

In total, 16 crews in 4 teams will travel over 3000 kilometres in a competition that will focus primarily on energy efficiency and will also include various daily challenges. The journey will start in Halifax (NS) on September 19. Competitors will then travel for 5 days through Charlottetown (PEI), Miramichi (NB), Quebec City (QC), Oshawa, London, and Barrie (ON) to arrive in Ottawa on September 23. An awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, September 24.

Along the route of the Great Electric Car Rally, numerous activities to raise awareness of electromobility will be organised in collaboration with local stakeholders. Webinars are also planned to reach a wider audience.

The crews of the Great Electric Car Rally will be composed of competitors selected by the project partners as well as candidates from the media and the general public. The pre-registration form is available on the Foundation’s website. Interested parties have until June 12 to submit.

This activity benefits from financial assistance from the Government of Canada. Many partners will also be associated with the Great Electric Car Rally. Among them, the FQESR is proud to highlight the support, as GOLD partners, of Garantie Avantage Plus, a company offering extended mechanical warranties, and of Groupe Tecnic, the largest network of driving schools in Quebec.
