Boivin EVolution (BEV), a Quebec-based company headquartered in Levis, is the first company to offer 100% electric automated waste collection trucks.

Together with Mack Trucks, the company is announcing the release of North America’s first 100% electric waste collection truck. The truck was unveiled to the public and media on March 7th, 2022, at the Complexe Capitale Hélicoptère in Quebec City.

“The Mack Truck LR Electric chassis and Boivin EVolution (BEV) dump body mark an important step forward for BEV, not only in waste collection but also from an environmental. The entire Boivin EVolution team is committed to minimizing our environmental impact by reducing fuel consumption, reducing GHG emissions and eliminating hydraulic spills, all of which are at the top of our list of priorities and an integral part of our mission,” says Claude Boivin, President of Boivin EVolution, with pride.

Sustainability and Efficiency

Unlike a hydraulic dump body, which relies on engine power to operate the automated arm and compactor, the BEV all-electric dump body and Mack chassis are battery-powered, yielding 100% fuel savings. When mounted on an electric truck, the system only consumes 45-50 kWh for a full day’s work and weighs 3000-4000 lbs lighter. Such great added value significantly increases the legal load. Overall, 80% savings in energy costs, 60% savings in maintenance costs, and lastly 85 tons of greenhouse gases (GHG) less per truck per year.

Industry impact

After nearly 5 years of work, research and development, analysis and testing, the entire BEV team is particularly proud of this remarkable achievement, made possible in part by several trusted partners.

According to Denis Boivin, Business Development Director, “It’s only a matter of time before the results of our work have global reach. Our innovative product line, which stands out from all other products on the market by being the first and only to function 100% electrically, meets a need and a highly anticipated demand. The number of orders we have received to date is a sign that Boivin EVolution is poised to make a significant impact on the international waste collection market.”
