Toyota has announced a comprehensive update for the 2027 Tundra full-size pickup, introducing sharper front-end styling, upgraded cabin technologies, and an accessible overlanding option tailored for work and recreational buyers.

Penned by Toyota’s CALTY Design Research center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the 2027 model receives a more upright, square front fascia featuring a revised hexagonal grille, integrated rectangular fog lamps, and a reinforced center bumper section. Upgrades to exterior lighting hardware include a higher-output grille-mounted LED light bar and available RIGID fog lamps to improve visibility in challenging environments.

A major highlight for the 2027 model year is the introduction of the Trailhunter package. Positioned as a factory-built overlanding option built on the mid-grade SR5 trim, Trailhunter makes trail capability accessible at a lower price point than top-tier off-road models. Key hardware additions include an Old Man Emu suspension upgrade, Michelin LTX Trail 265/70R18 tires, underbody skid protection, front recovery hooks, a locking rear differential, Multi-Terrain Select, and Crawl Control. Distinct bronze-finished wheels and specialized exterior badging complete the package.

Inside the cabin, Toyota standardizes a 14-inch touchscreen powered by its latest Audio Multimedia software suite. The system features enhanced voice recognition, customizable home screen widgets, 5G network connectivity, and an integrated Drive Recorder camera system that captures 20-second video clips during manual or triggered events. Furthermore, the vehicle introduces expanded Digital Key functionality, allowing owners to manage key sharing for up to five devices directly within native smartphone wallet applications such as Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, or Samsung Wallet using Near Field Communication.

Powertrain choices remain centered on the twin-turbo V6 engine and the i-FORCE MAX hybrid system. Hybrid models continue to feature an available 2.4-kW onboard power inverter to run tools and electrical equipment on jobsites or remote locations. Safety upgrades are headlined by the standard inclusion of Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 across all grades, introducing upgraded hardware for driver-assist systems including pre-collision detection, dynamic radar cruise control, and lane tracing assist. 

Final pricing and trim specifications for the Canadian market will be published closer to the start of production in fall 2026.
