Under the technical partnership, Nexen will supply factory-fitment tires for two primary BYD battery-electric platforms: the SEAL 6 sedan, featuring the N’FERA Sport ultra-high-performance summer line, and the Dolphin Surf hatchback, utilizing the low-rolling-resistance N’Blue S eco-spec compound.

Global tire manufacturer Nexen Tire has finalized its inaugural original equipment (OE) supply agreement with BYD, the world’s highest-volume electric vehicle manufacturer.

Under the technical partnership, Nexen will supply factory-fitment tires for two primary BYD battery-electric platforms: the SEAL 6 sedan, featuring the N’FERA Sport ultra-high-performance summer line, and the Dolphin Surf hatchback, utilizing the low-rolling-resistance N’Blue S eco-spec compound.

The strategic industrial allocation carries significant commercial weight for the Canadian automotive landscape. Following the federal restructuring of import tariff frameworks on Chinese-built electric vehicles, BYD is actively coordinating with local dealer groups to deploy a 20-store retail network across key metro corridors, including Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, and Calgary. The corporate blueprint earmarks both the Seal and Dolphin models as core entry platforms for the Canadian market.

For independent tire distributors, franchise service directors, and counter personnel across Canada, this tier-one alignment solidifies future parts-cataloging specifications. Both Nexen lines are structurally engineered to mitigate the high instant torque profiles and elevated curb weights characteristic of modern EV chassis while maximizing wet-braking efficiency and vehicle range. “Becoming an OE supplier for BYD EV models demonstrates our technological range and our quality competitiveness in delivering optimized performance for electric vehicles,” stated John Bosco Kim, CEO of Nexen Tire.

The partnership confirms that incoming domestic fleet and retail allocations will land on standard, widely supported tire architectures, streamlining future aftermarket replacement pipelines.
