During his eight years leading AAD, Gunderson focused product strategy on OEM-standard repair solutions, technician training, and shop productivity.

Dave Gunderson, President of 3M’s Automotive Aftermarket Division (AAD), will retire on October 1, 2026, following a 38-year tenure with the company, 3M announced. He will be succeeded by Chad M. Carney.

During his eight years leading AAD, Gunderson focused product strategy on OEM-standard repair solutions, technician training, and shop productivity. He notably led the acquisition of Meguiar’s Inc. in 2008.

Carney, a 27-year 3M veteran, most recently served as Vice President of Product Strategy in the Personal Safety Division, where he delivered seven consecutive quarters of growth. Previously, while heading the Industrial Adhesives and Tapes Division, he maintained business expansion amidst pandemic-related supply chain disruptions.

For collision repair facilities and distributors, Carney’s background in supply chain stabilization and operational efficiency signals a continued focus on product availability and shop-floor productivity tools.
