According to a recent report by Markets and Markets, the global demand for Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) is expected to grow significantly in the coming years. Valued at 359.8 million units in 2025, it is projected to grow to 652.5 million units by 2032 at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 8.9%. 

The report cites advancements in machine learning, Artificial Intelligence algorithms and sensor fusion, which have made ADAS components and systems more cost-effective and sophisticated, reducing their reliance on expensive LiDAR and Radar systems.

The result is enabling vehicle OEMs to continue reducing costs, while improving functionality and at the same time, offering future flexibility for upgrades, such as Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates.

This will enable vehicle manufacturers to enhance vehicle safety features such as emergency braking and adaptive cruise control without needing expensive hardware upgrades.

The report also points out that the acceleration of ADAS adoption will hinge on having the right supporting infrastructure, particularly when it comes to aspects such as roads and communication networks. Currently, one of the biggest barriers to faster ADAS adoption are limited network connections on many highways, particularly in developing countries such as Mexico, Brazil and India, which are all considered to be emerging economies.

Standardized infrastructure is seen as critical to supporting robust ADAS rollout and adoption and when these are present, effective ADAS can result in an up to 25% decline in injury-related deaths from vehicles, based on data from the AAA Foundation for Safety in the U.S.
