For collision centres, paint mixing is an integral part of efficient and quality repairs and refinish. At the 2024 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, PPG had a mobile van outfitted with the company’s new innovative MOONWALK automated paint mixing solution. Designed to integrate seamlessly with PPG’s LINQ digital ecosystem, the result is a far greater degree of accuracy than mixing paint manually.

“The overall purpose of MOONWALK is to maximize savings for body shops,” explained Brandt Ferreé, who was performing on-site demonstrations for attendees, including multiple body shop owners and managers. “MOONWALK is 10 times more accurate than a typical human mixing paint in the refinish department,” Ferreé added, noting that by automating the process, not only does it ensure far greater accuracy but also very significant time and labour cost savings. MOONWALK also results in a far cleaner and safer working environment, not to mention, consistent, high quality paint finishes.
