An innovative company has changed the game for collision repair

In 2001, Osvaldo Bergaglio founded Symach in Bologna, Italy.

The company’s Drytronic technology, designed to expedite the curing process following automotive refinishing quickly established itself as a must-have for collision shops.

Since that time the company has continued to add advanced technologies to significantly reduce both spraying and drying time during the collision repair process.

In 2010, Symach introduced its FixLine system, a complete repair process that has enabled collision centres to significantly reduce throughput and labour hours.

Continuously moving

FixLine works much like an assembly line, with vehicles continuously moving through the repair process from one stage to the next.

According to Bergaglio, installing the FixLine system in a collision centre today can cut cycle times by 2-3 days and those shops which have adopted the system have seen huge benefits.

Not surprisingly, the FixLine system’s popularity has mushroomed and Symach has grown into a multi-national operation with more than 30 employees handling international customer requirements—everything from planning, to engineering, installation and training.

Two decades is a long time, especially in such a fast-paced industry as automotive collision repair. Nevertheless, much like the vehicles, it is designed to help repair, Symach has continued to evolve and innovate.

EV solution

Looking to the future and vehicle electrification, Symach’s Drytronic technology is now able to transfer energy directly into the wet paint while the vehicle is in the spray booth instead of heating up the entire booth.

This is an important consideration for collision centres that are working on an increasing number of electric vehicles.

Because the heat is transferred directly to the paint, it results in a lower overall temperature within the spray booth during drying–effectively eliminating the risk of damage to an EV’s battery system as a result of excessive external temperatures.

This is just one example of how Symach has and continues to provide innovative and game-changing solutions to the collision repair industry.

Happy anniversary Symach, and here’s to many, many more.
