OpenRoad unveils 166,000 sq. ft. automall in Surrey, B.C.

Expanding its retail network footprint in British Columbia’s fastest-growing market, OpenRoad Auto partners with Conwest Developments to build a 166,000-square-foot multi-dealership automall.

Automotive dealership group OpenRoad Auto has announced the development of the Surrey Auto Loop, a new 16-acre automall located in Surrey’s Newton neighborhood. Developed in partnership with Conwest Developments, the site will feature seven commercial lots encompassing roughly 166,000 square feet of dealership space across showrooms, offices, and service bays, supported by more than 1,000 vehicle parking stalls.

For automotive retail directors and industry analysts, the development directly targets regional population growth and commercial demand in Metro Vancouver. OpenRoad CEO Christian Chia noted that the destination model brings multiple OEM vehicle franchises under one retail hub, with Surrey Honda and Mercedes-Benz Surrey confirmed as the initial anchor dealerships.

The project follows a municipal rezoning process managed by Conwest to convert underutilized industrial land into an active commercial development aligned with Surrey’s Official Community Plan. City officials endorsed the site plan for driving private investment and adding local employment, with official construction scheduled to begin in early 2027.
