A new charging station is now available

Integrated dynamic load management helps Canadian EV owners avoid electrical service upgrades of up to $9,000 when installing home Level 2 charging infrastructure.

Energy technology provider Schneider Electric has officially launched the Schneider Charge in Canada, a residential Level 2 EV charger engineered to streamline home installations. The system’s primary feature, SmartAmp dynamic load management, automatically monitors real-time household power consumption and scales charging output to fit available electrical capacity.

The integrated load monitoring addresses a major friction point in Canadian EV adoption by allowing homeowners to install a Level 2 charger without incurring panel or electrical service upgrade expenses, which can often reach or exceed $9,000. Utilizing panel-installed current transformers included with the unit, the load management system operates continuously even during Wi-Fi connectivity outages.

Delivering up to 11.5 kW (48A), the charger is available with either J1772 or native NACS (J3400) connectors. Engineered for Canadian winters with an operational rating down to -30°C, the ENERGY STAR certified unit links to a companion mobile app for time-of-use scheduling. For electrical contractors and automotive dealerships managing customer home charging setups, deployment is supported through the eSetup commissioning tool and Schneider’s partnership with the Qmerit installer network.
