ASE offers two dedicated testing tracks for parts professionals.
The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is encouraging counter personnel and parts professionals across North America to renew or upgrade their ASE Parts Specialist certifications.
ASE offers two dedicated testing tracks for parts professionals:
-
P1 – Medium-Heavy Truck Parts Specialist
-
P2 – Automobile Parts Specialist
To earn ASE certification, candidates must pass the respective exam and demonstrate two years of hands-on work experience directly related to parts counter operations and inventory lookup. Certifications remain valid for five years before requiring recertification testing.
“To succeed in today’s increasingly technical automotive service environment, parts specialists must stay current with evolving vehicle systems, technology and customer expectations,” said Dave Johnson, President and CEO of ASE. “ASE certification demonstrates a commitment to professionalism.”
For Canadian automotive jobbers, commercial vehicle fleet parts departments, and wholesale distributors (including NAPA, Auto Value, and Bumper to Bumper networks), ASE P1 and P2 credentials represent an industry-recognized benchmark for technical competency and parts cataloging accuracy.
